This project started with a text from Frank Chimero (http://frankchimero.com/) (The Backside Of Your Gullet Is Decadent And Depraved) and a university assignment : to make a book, of anything, where each student would be his own editor and designer.

So, I decided to make myself something useful, something that I could go to over and over again when having a creativity block. Reading that specific text triggered the idea: It had helped me once in the past, to see someone as accomplished as Frank Chimero could also have his doubts, and so the urge to keep the text somewhere, to print it and refer to it later, became the basis of the book.

I divided it in three parts: “Ready”, “Aim”, and “Fire!”.

In “Ready” we have texts from people that have had creativity blocks and doubts about what they are doing… it’s normal, and “you” are not the only one in that boat. Even great people have had it.

In “Aim” we have texts that try to find a solution, that somehow indicate a possible path of pursuit. They may not be perfect, or work in your specific case, but hey, they are trying! At least now you’ll probably be able to see again your goal and start thinking of a way of reaching it.

In “Fire!” we have exactly that: a call for action. Just fire, it doesn’t matter if you know where, or even what you’re doing. The texts in this part are shorter and the sentences are written often as orders. You’ve done your whining and your thinking, now it’s time to act.

Curated, and designed by me. All the engravings are from ClipArt ETC

The illustrations in each chapter divider were done by me, using some of those engravings as material.
